The collaboration between Airelectronics and CIMMYT successfully continues after delivering the second Remote Sensing Skywalker unit to the National Farming Innovation Institute of Peru (INIA).Along with the Skywalker unit, training and familiarization courses were provided, successfully obtaining the first remote sensing results.
The post processing of the images obtained with the UAV allowed the scientist to obtain the NDVI (Normalized differential vegetation index), required to control the breeding status. This process its done using multispectral and thermal cameras, aslo providing information about the soil water stress. After the study of the data, the comparison between the NDVI calculated plant status and the real field status showed a tremendous coincidence ratio, proving the data worth of further use.
